about the blog/me

The blog:
  • "Dream Home" is a goal, not a reality.  To make a real home, I think you have to put a lot into it yourself.  I love furniture/art/accents that mean something.
  • A dream home is not a dream house.  If this was my dream house, I would have a dishwasher.  And a door to the backyard.  And the house would clean itself.
  • I do love my house, though.  It was built in 1950 by my husband's grandpa, and it's the place my father in law grew up.  All the history with the house is part of the reason why I love/want things inside the house that have meaning.
This is how the house looked when we first moved in.  Quite a few things have changed already- the huge pine tree is gone, there are new windows, and the curb around the lawn is gone.  And now, instead of a lawn, we have weeds (we had to rip everything up so we could regrade the lawn- it's still a work in progress).

About me:
  • I'm a wife and a mostly stay at home mom.
  • When I'm not staying at home, I'm teaching some geology classes at a local university (it's the best part time job ever- I only work about 4 hours a week, and only during the school year).
  • I love sewing, crafting, (spray) painting, thrifting, and gardening (if it's not too hot).
  • Besides that, I love to read, run, play the piano, and cook.
  The three of us.
These two melt my heart.
She loves this pinwheel, I love this picture.
